CRYING
The
joys of parenthood are subject to frequent interruption: babies cry...
and sometimes for no apparent reason.
We changed them, fed them, cuddled them, rocked them, sang to them, played
tapes for them... and when the crying drowned out the lullabies, we remembered
a tip from a friend and turned to the household appliances. And discovered
that the most unlikely sounds created the most heavenly silence.
COPING

been well documented by the experts and noted in virtually all of the
childcare books. So, after consulting the literature and talking to other
moms, we created this compilation of unlikely sounds to calm your baby.

CREATING
for
crying out loud! was created in 1996 by Perpetual Cow Productions,
a partnership of two professional-women-turned-moms. Martha Stone and
Pam Johann had just discovered the sounds that calmed their own babies.
While on maternity leave and with infants in tow, they turned an off-the-wall
idea into a best seller among the 0-18 month set. Nearly 30,000 copies
of for crying out loud! have been sold through retail outlets,
baby stores, catalogues and hospitals across the country.
